For the last 20 years I have been full time with the Jukebox Company taking care of service calls and the restoration of 50’s AMI and Rockola jukeboxes although without the help of some friends this would not have been possible.
First there is Derek who turned up in my original showroom looking to buy a jukebox for his newly built games room / summer house. Since then we have become great friends so much so that he is now a main stay in the restoration process. His job is to strip down the jukebox to a bare cabinet which then go to:
Terry who asked me to repair his AMI 1200 20 years ago. He at the time was restoring American cars so his part of the restoration process is to professionally spray the cabinet which gives us such a superb finish.
Then back to Derek to be re-wired and refit the re-chromed parts.
After that has been done the mechanism is refitted and the whole machine is then given back to me in the workshop where I can put my expertise to work.
Finally Martin, the only one of the team that has a full time job, gives the sound system a full restoration. We end up with a 50’s jukebox that sounds great.
For those of you that came into the shop and knew Micky, he will be sorely missed.
